Breast Cancer Awareness Association (BCAA)
Situation
The Event Group was approached by a group of women who wanted assistance with developing and producing a sustainable educational breast cancer conference with a focus on treatment, survivorship, and prevention options. The conference would be leading-edge in new treatment options, research discoveries, and legislative actions relating to breast cancer.
Solution
To develop the conference, a non-profit association needed to be formed and sustained and volunteers, a board, and a community recruited. The Event Group worked with a volunteer committee to produce the first conference from a concept and saw it through its eighth annual conference. The Event Group helped the Breast Cancer Awareness Association to provide breast health education to over 3,000 conference attendees since its first conference in fall 2002. The Event Group staff was the only staff for the Breast Cancer Awareness Association conference, but attendees would never know it. From answering the phones to processing the event registrations and handling logistics, The Event Group was literally the back office for the Breast Cancer Awareness Association.
Success
This memorable event has successfully grown into an annual fundraiser and educational conference which consists of numerous speakers, a fashion show, a luncheon, and exhibitors. From the start-up of this non-profit, The Event Group guided the Breast Cancer Awareness Association in developing fundraisers and selling sponsorships, eventually enabling them to hold an educational breast health conference that totally supports itself.
